A Minneapolis native now living in Pennsylvania, Thomas Paquette received a BFA in painting from Bemidji State University and an MFA in painting from Southern Illinois University in 1988. His landscape paintings have been exhibited throughout the United States. Paquette has been a frequent artist in residence including residencies at the American Academy in Rome, the Aegean Arts and Cultural Exchange and three U.S. national parks. He was awarded the three-year CAVA residency-fellowship from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts and his paintings have been selected to hang in sixteen U.S. embassies on five different continents. A solo show of his paintings, On Nature’s Terms: the Wilderness Paintings of Thomas Paquette Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act, will be exhibited at museums in California, New York and Indiana in 2014 and 2015.
