Studio Window

Groveland Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Studio Window, an exhibit of new paintings by Barbara McIlrath. This new body of work is centered on the views of her studio and the landscape that lies just beyond her studio window. For McIlrath, the artistic process begins when she first becomes aware of a unique feature in her surroundings. She then spends time lingering and wrestling with her observations. Ultimately, McIlrath comes full circle by creating the painting and revealing something new.

As McIlrath explains, “I began this series of paintings on November 5, 2020, as the national political drama erupted and even painfully affected our little community in rural Wisconsin. I found refuge within my barn studio full of objects of visual delight, including brushes and paint. Gratitude from being in the old, solid structure on our land, where I feel joy, flows through the work.”

The artist will be present at the opening reception Saturday, September 11 from 12-5 pm. The opening reception and exhibition runs concurrently with Prints & Paintings by Stuart Loughridge. Both shows continue through October 16, 2021.
