For artist Abigail Anderson, making art is an opportunity to reflect on the natural world. Spending time in wild places and observing biological phenomena are foundations for her contemplative, abstracted compositions. In the summer of 2014, Anderson volunteered for the Museum of the Rockies’ paleontology field program. She was part of a crew working at Egg Mountain, a site that in 1979 yielded critical evidence that large dinosaurs cared for their young, much like many living birds. The volunteer program is directed by renowned paleontologist Dr. Jack Horner and the field work was led by PhD students from Montana State University.
