The Earth Insists on Being Beautiful

Groveland Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of The Earth Insists on Being Beautiful, an exhibition of new drawings by Michael Paul. Paul is best known for his paintings and drawings of the northern Great Plains as well as his use of traditional silverpoint and encaustic materials. His work is included in numerous private and public collections throughout the Midwest, including the North Dakota Museum of Art, Plains Art Museum, the Federal Reserve Bank and Mayo Clinic.
In this show, Paul’s silverpoint drawings focus on the shorelines of Northern Minnesota, expansive Western prairie skies and weathered buildings. His keen eye for detail and atmosphere allows observers to marvel at rock formations protruding from deep water, soft and rolling clouds over the landscape, and textured rural buildings.
About this show, the artist states, “The title of my show reflects the times we live in. We are dealing with huge turn-your-hair-white problems on a global scale, and yet The Earth Insists on Being Beautiful.”
