On the River
Saturday, August 6 | Plein Air SmackDown VI – Groveland Gallery’s most popular summertime event returns, this time with a change of venue: the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area between Minneapolis and St. Paul. Throughout the day, Groveland Gallery and guest artists will be painting en plein air at locations along the river. The public will receive the artist locations in advance, and are welcome to visit the painters on location throughout the afternoon. All artists and observers are invited to return to the gallery for a party on the front porch at the end of the day. SmackDown: 10 am-3 pm | Party & Sale: 4-6 pm

The day’s paintings will be available for sale. Among the artists included are Groveland painters Richard Abraham, Fred Anderson, Michael Banning, Kristie Bretzke, Jim Conaway, Tom Maakestad, Carl Oltvedt, Barbara McIlrath, Susan Horn, Holly Swift and Justin Terlecki. Guest artists will include Carl Bretzke, Chris Copeland, Joshua Cunningham, Aaron Jacobs, Dan Mondloch and Bob Upton.
